Crash, cover-up and corruption

China recently had a train crash that killed about 40 people. Nobody knows what really happened. Crash victims’ families and their supporters blame the government and its officials. The government officials try their best to make themselves innocent. 

Many people believe it was a tragedy that can happen anywhere. Many are surprised to see the public anger in China.The Chinese authorities messed up the tragedy so badly from start to finish, starting off with an attempt to censor the tragedy and bury the train wreck on site. Public trust of the government officials and their investigations seems to be at an all time low, anger at an all time high, at least in China’s cyberspace. Online dissent has been widespread and damning. Censorship has done little to halt the tide of anger. The attempted cover-up and conspiracy by officials has been absolutely massive news in China. However, the media in the West do not know or understand what really happened. Was it a crash caused by lightening or something else?

Many do not realize the extent of corruption in China. Probably most people in China have paid a bribe, or given a ‘gift’, gain advantage of some sort or another. The reason that some of corruption (the paying of favours, paying of bribes, giving of gifts, networks, nepotism ) is so hard to counter is that it is an intrinsic part of the Chinese culture.

It is easy to prosecute a few bad eggs. It is hard to prosecute bad egg producers.

Who are the bad egg producers? The government, the political system, the culture or the people?

乱侃老赖

过去一星期，赖昌星遭遣返一直是中文媒体热门话题，加拿大英文媒体只报了这事，但不是头条新闻，更无后续报道和民众讨论。

谁都知道，老赖的案子从一开始就不是一个简单的法律问题。西方政客已认识到，中共在对待涉及自身利益或其政权稳定的案件时，是不讲法律的。老赖在加拿大赖了十二年，最终还是被遣送回家。谁都知道，老赖不是无辜的。这是一个走私案，也是一个政治案，即涉及中国政客的案件。案件闹这么大动静，加政府及很多人也相信中共政府的不杀承诺，但问题是目前中共还未有司法独立，老赖是否会得到不受政治影响的审判很难说。民主国家的常识是：国家领导人在案件审理前，在审理中及在审理后，都无权力做出法律承诺。司法若独立，中共政府官员或党官无权去说这个人能不能被判死。

有不少中文媒体说老赖的被遣返，有助于遣返其他的外逃贪官。这说法很难站住脚，因赖不是官。外逃的官总体看官阶不是很高。高官里有几个是真正外逃的？据说很多高官都把赃款转移出境，而且还有多本外国护照。现在没逃，是因为还没到时候。逃的还是那些失势的贪官。

性事

美国纽约州已将同性婚姻合法化了。许多人高兴，许多人不高兴。美国许多时候走在加拿大前边，在同性恋婚姻合法化方面却落后加拿大好几年。

以前不理解同性恋，现仍不理解，只是认同，或者说承认这现象普遍存在。同性恋在有的社会已公开化，在有的社会仍处在暗处。我交往和认识的人中，就有同性恋，有的今天恋这个，明天恋那个。有的得了爱滋，有的变成地下工作者。同性恋朋友看到我上面这句话，估计不太高兴，会说你们异性恋也不是今天恋这个，明天恋那个吗？对，说的一点没错。我只是不明白，同性怎么能恋到一起。许多异性恋讨厌同性恋，说同性恋搞那事真恶心。同样，同性恋也许也会认为你们男女搞那事也真恶心。

受所谓传统观念的洗脑，我一直认为性是男女之间的事，和动物一样。动物世界，性事好像就是公母之间的事。这是以前的认识。后来看过一电视节目，看到野生动物个别同性之间也在发生性事。这不得不令我重新思考人或动物的性事。思考后，还是不明白。这只能怪罪我的性取向。不同性取向，看问题很可能会不一样。

咱没机会得到上帝、真主、菩萨的教诲，却似乎承认有一无形神力的存在，它创造了世间的雌雄。雌雄结合乃天作之合。雌雄器官除繁衍功能外，也具有愉悦功能。雌雌或雄雄之间目前只能相互愉悦，没听说可以繁衍。另一方，咱受所谓民主自由的多年熏陶，一直支持同性恋群体追求社会平等权利，尽管我仍不明白同性恋性事的愉悦功能。

人们应尊重有这种性取向的人。异性恋是自然造就的，同性恋一样是自然造就的。不能因你异性恋人多势众，就歧视势单力薄的同性恋。

Norway Killings

The killings in Norway this Friday have been the headline news everywhere. I echo sorrow and thoughts for the families of the victims.

His actions were to make a statement and draw attention to the issues that concerned him, and others who share his values. Dislike of the immigration policies of the Norwegian and other European countries will be found to be at the centre of his motivation.

There are many people looking for the reasons behind the killings and for ways to prevent similar killings in the future. In my opinion copycat acts many happen and can never be prevented. The killings carried out by this Norwegian guy were not random acts or something done in haste or anger, but rather a series of deliberate acts that required meticulous preparation, which cannot be prevented. Human behaviour may be prevented, not the brain.

There was a background reason for his madness. At the far extreme end of resentment is his brand of pure lunacy and murder which is the same as Muslim terrorists.
